8 weeks old!

Wednesday Colton and I joined a Mom's group and met some new people. Afterwards we went to Rhoad's so I could get the rest of my things (Cory and I had gotten the majority of it on Sunday) and then came home. It is so weird to think that I am no longer an employee of Katy ISD.

Colton is 8 weeks old today. He is so much more alert during the day. He really likes to be up on your shoulder so he can look around. When I take him down he gets very upset and lets me know it. He has also started smiling and cooing all the time. He is very content just sitting in his boppy or laying on his playmat (for about 20 minutes at a time) and he will just coo the whole time. Tonight he was laying on the bed with Cory looking the other way and when I called his name he turned his head and looked at me for the first time---needless to say Mommy was very excited!! When we put him down in his crib for bed (awaked) he is usually asleep on his own within about 15 minutes. He is still waking up every 3 hours to eat at night, but he eats really fast and usually goes right back to sleep within 20-30 minutes. He is also beginning to like his baths--no more screaming fits the whole time.

I will leave you with a few pictures........

GOD IS GOOD!!!

Mom is having a WONDERFUL week---and she sure deserves it after what she has been going through!!!!

The insurance adjuster called her and told her that her car was a total loss (see below and you won’t be surprised) so she went out and bought a new car (a very pretty VW Jetta). When they insurance adjuster called back the next day, he offered her a ridiculous amount of money —several thousand more than Kelly Blue Book said it was worth. Needless to say she was very excited!!

Today her kidney doctor called to tell her that not only did she have hepatitis, but she also had mono. Both strains are specific to auto-immune disease and are NOT contagious, but it helps to explain why she felt so bad and why it has taken so long to get over it. He told her that her liver enzyme numbers had dropped from 270/253 to 32/66. (they should be below 20.) He is thrilled with that and it shows that the protocol that she is following is working. Now she just has to have her blood taken next week and the next week and if her numbers continue to drop, she doesn't have to have the biopsy. He said that if they continue to drop, it means that “we’re looking at a chronic problem rather than a potentially deadly problem.” There will still have to be some sort of treatment, but she can deal with that. If the numbers remain where they are, he may still do the biopsy, but he’s not looking for the scary stuff (cancer, cirrhosis, etc.).
God is Good!!!!!!!!!!!

I know many of you have been praying for her and I want to thank you. It is working!!

Our Poor Baby!

This morning when we woke up Colton had a little gunk in his left eye, but I didn't think too much of it because when I wiped it away it was fine. As the day went on though it just continued to fill up and filled faster every time I wiped it away. He was also becoming more fussy as the day went along. I was going to call my Dr. until I learned she was out of the country for the weekend, so instead we took him to the Pediatric Urgent Care. It seems that he has 1 of 2 things--conjunctivitis (commonly known as pink eye) or a blocked tear duct. He has also had a little cough so she decided we would treat it at conjnctivitis and see what happens. Poor baby---we have to put this goopy medicine in his eye 3 times a day and he HATES it. He was very fussy this evening but went to bed all by himself at 7:00pm.

On another note they weighed him and he is now 10lbs 8oz.....PORKY PIG!!! I guess that is the double chin!

Mom's Wreck

Last night at about 6:30 Cory was finishing up his dinner while I held the baby and then I was going to eat mine. My phone rang and I saw that it was Mom but I hit ignore thinking I would call her back when we were done (I know I am a bad daughter). A few seconds later she called again so I answered and she immediatley said “You have to come and get me because I was just in a bad accident and can’t get out of my car” then she said “I’m not ok” and hung up on me. I immediatley freaked and tried to call her back because all I knew was she had been on her way to Brenham to watch Kirsten’s last t-ball game. This time she told me where she was and hung up again. I was really panicked and Cory didn’t want me driving so we packed up the baby and headed out. I talked to her a few times on the way and was feeling better because she was sounding better, but still scared. We stopped to get some of her personal belongings out of the car and that was really scary. She is lucky to be alive!!

So here is what happened…..she was driving down Hwy. 36 between Sealy and Bellville in a line of traffic and there was a line of traffic going the other way. They were driving about 50 mph (the speed limit is 70) — you know, leisurely country driving on a two lane farm road. All of a sudden, a car on the other side slowed down/slamed on their brakes and the lady behind had to make a quick reaction. She swerved to the right first but realized there were already cars there so she swirved back and lost control smashing right into the side of Mom. Luckily she swerved right first because if she had gone left first it would have been a head on colision. Mom spun around, hit a culvert, broke a concrete poll, smashed a mailbox into the ground, broke a barbed wire fence and landed in a ditch. She was trapped because the whole drivers side was smashed in and her steering wheel was pushed down. Some guy came running up yelling at her to get out of her car because there was gasoline everywhere but she couldn’t get out (this was the first time she hung up on me). So he grabbed her and pulled her out over the console. They decided at the scene that it was a trauma 1 and took her to the Bellville hospital (the actually have 3 beds in their emergency room — what would have happened if there had been more people involved?) Anyway, to make a longer story short, after many x-rays and 4 hours in the hospital she had a mild concussion, her left hip was knocked out of joint and that’s it besides being sore and bruised up, which is nothing after seeing the car. Poor Mom though can’t take any medication (not even tylenol) because she is having a liver biopsy on the 24th and is not allowed to take any medication until after that. The liver screen is a whole different story—if she didn’t have bad luck she wouldn’t have any luck at all.

We went to the wrecker company today to get the rest of her belongings that I didn’t get and took these pictures. I think it is totaled—what do you think?

(Mom was very worried about where her tires were—she asked the people at the site about 5,000 times and then asked me at the hospital 1,000 times. Here they are Mom!)
I am so greatful that she only walked away with bruises. Love you Mom!!!!!

Our Weekend

Saturday–We hung around the house until 2 when I had an eye doctor appointment. I haven’t been in about 3 years and have recently felt like my vision had changed and my glasses were no longer working, so I decided it was time for a check up. Good thing I did because my eyes have definitley changed. The doctor said that it is very common for vision to get better from pregnancy….I guess it worked for me!! I still need glasses but my eyes are both better than before. Afterwards we ventured over to Sam’s to get a membership—cheaper formula!!!! Colton took a bottle at 8pm and then slept until 2am—6 hours!!!! He did great the rest of the night.
Sunday–Colton and I went over to Mom’s to work on the baby announcements that I still haven’t gotten mailed out. He was wonderful and I got sooo much done!!!!!!!!!! He laid on the floor and entertained himself quite a bit. He also had a lot of tummy time and loved it (until he fell asleep). He was very content and happy all day……until later that evening around 10:00pm. He would not let himself go to sleep. I finally got him down at 12:30 and he was up every 3 hours (awake for about 1 1/2 hours each time).

(Playing in my bouncy seat at Nana’s–I discovered the toys and can reach them now)

Monday–(It was a rough day!!!) He was up for good at 6:00 and very unhappy the rest of the morning. After him screaming and not sleeping all morning I decided around noon that maybe he would sleep if I went for a walk. We headed out and he fell asleep right away, but I quickly realized that it was 100 degrees outside. As soon as we walked in the house he was awake and screaming. I loaded him up and we headed to the mall to walk–I walked for 1 1/2 hours because I didn’t want to wake him up. When he finally woke up he was happy as can be. Then he had a great night—up at 1:30 and 5:30 but right back to sleep after each feeding. YEAH!!!!!

Tuesday–We headed up to the school so I could begin going through all of my stuff and getting rid of things I don’t need to save. He was absolutley perfect!!! I guess he was just having a bad day yesterday–oh well we all have them sometimes. Hopefully he has another good night.

Happy Birthday (yesterday) Daddy!

Yesterday was Cory's birthday so Colton and I went to his office to have lunch with him. On our way we stopped to get him this GIANT balloon and a cake. My original plan was to get one from Baskin Robbins because that is what he really wanted. I was supposed to be there at 11 and Baskin Robbins didn't open until 11 so we settled for an ice cream cake from HEB. It was actually very delicious!!! We went to lunch with some of the guys and then Colton and I went for my 6 week follow up with the doctor. Cory wanted to stay in so we ordered pizza and hung out at home. Happy Birthday Cory--I hope you had a wonderful day!!!

Oh and we have 2 trips booked now......Cory and I are going to Lowe's Lake Las Vegas Golf and Spa resort on July 2nd for 3 nights/4 days and then thanks to the Crawford's (they are letting us use the time share) we have a trip booked to Cabo with Clay and Jennifer in June of 2009. I better get busy working out!!!!

Visit from friends

Last Friday Colton and I spent the day with my 2 best friends--we have been friends since junior high. Caroline and Mitchell were in town from California visiting her mom and Laura drove in from Georgetown with Evan. We spent the first half of the day just chatting at the house while the babies took naps. Then we ventured over to La Centerra for some shopping--only it was 100 degrees outside so we didn't last long. Our last stop was the Nestle Cookie Shop and it was delicious!! I have managed to stay away from there for a long time but now I think I am hooked. Afterwards we went over to Caroline's parents to hang out for ab while. It was so wonderful to all 3 be together at the same time. Usually it is just 2 of us---the last time we were all 3 together was at my baby shower and before that it was my wedding. It is also usually very limited time because there is so much going on---this time we had the whole day!! Here is a picture of the 3 of us with our boys (Laura has 2 more but they stayed home with Dad). Love you girls!!!

Happy Anniversary

One year ago today, I married my best friend. It was a gorgeous day and venue for a wedding and I couldn't have asked for anything more. Although it went by quickly, I made sure to take in every moment. We were very fortunate to have so many family & friends to share our day with us, as well as pictures from that day. Our photographer captured so many precious moments that warm my heart every time I look at my scrapbooks.

Happy Anniversary Honey! I am so thankful to call you my husband. You have given me unconditional love, encouragement, support, a hand to hold, and the most precious gift of all, a son! I love you!!!

1 month old

We've made it to 1 month old! It's hard to believe how fast the last few weeks have gone by, but they have been wonderful. I have waited for this moment for a very long time and it is way better than I ever imagined.
Other than a little sleep deprivation everything is going well. The nights were going really well until the past 3 nights. Last night we were up from 2:00-5:00am. Apparently he still doesn't have the day/night thing figured out! Although I am really tired (just trying to nap during the day as much as I can) the nights are getting a little easier. I don't know if it's because I am used to waking up throughout the night or what, but it doesn't seem so hard to get out of bed if he needs something. Cory is still the hard sleeper and doesn't hear him stir, but that is ok. Last night he did the 11:00 feeding and then slept in the recliner in Colton’s room from 11:00-1:00 so he would hear him and be able to do the 1:00 feeding. I couldn’t believe he did that—what a great dad and husband!

We put Colton in his nursery for the first night last week. He is doing great in there. I honestly think that he sleeps better in the crib then he does in his pack n play.

We go to the doctor on Tuesday for his 1 month check up, so I will post his updated stats later this week. I am positive he has gained more though.....his little cheeks are really filling out.
Here is his 1 month picture and his 1 week picture for comparison.

What have we been up to?

Monday-Today we hung out at Daddy's office for several hours while the maids came to clean the house for the last time---now it is Mommy's job to keep it clean.

Tuesday-We went over to Nana's to visit her because she was home sick with a kidney infection. Colton snuggled with her while Mommy scrapbooked for a while.

Wednesday-We had a busy day today!! First we had lunch with Ashley and Lacey at Willie's. The babies slept the whole time, so Ashley and I had plenty of time to catch up. After lunch we all headed up to St. Peter's to introduce Colton to Sandra (Lacey had already met her the week before). Colton loved snuggling with Sandra and didn't even wake up! Then we headed home and Hillary came over to visit. Then Daddy came home and Mommy ventured over to La Centera by herself---the whole time I felt like I had forgotten something since I didn't have Colton with me.

Thursday-Today Colton and Mommy made a trip to Babies R Us and to Katy Mills Mall. Colton was pretty fussy most of the day, but overall it was a nice time. We didn't buy much just walked around a bunch.

Friday-We went to work with Daddy today. Colton slept in his swing ALL day and Mommy did some data entry for Daddy. Daddy had to stay late at work (11:00). After Mommy finished working we met Nana at Chili's for dinner. Then we came home and Mommy straightened up the house and relaxed until Daddy got home.
