Movin' and Groovin'

Today I put Colton on his playmat and he was having a blast. I went to clean up the kitchen and when I came back I found him completley turned around and almost off the mat.
(This is how I left him----the black and white butterfly to his right)

(This is how I found him when I came back--not the butterfly is to his right)

Sick Baby :(

Poor Colton has been struck with bronchiolitis. We were up several times last night because he was wheezing and coughing so much he could hardly breathe. At about 2 am he woke up sweating so we took his temperature and it was 102.6 We were very scared because he has never had anything over 99.1 and we had checked it before bed and it was normal. It had escalated very quickly. I called my mom to see what we should do--sorry we woke you Mom! We gave him tylenol and sat in the steamed up bathroom for a while. It seemed to help and he went back to sleep until about 4am. Then he woke up again so I brought him to bed with me and slept off and on until about 7am when we took his temp again and it was 100.4. I called the Dr. at 8am and they got him in right away. She said it is bronchiolitis---we are having to do nebulizer treatments 3 times a day and he absolutley hates them. He just screams uncontrollably the whole time. He has slept the majority of the day in his swing and when he is awake he does a lot of whimpering. I feel so bad for him and just hate that he doesn't feel good. Since he needs to be with the humidifier I am going to sleep on the airmattress in his bedroom with him and we plan on semi-waking him up before we head to bed so that we can check his temperature yet again and have him drink some more pedialyte. The Dr. said he should be getting better by Wed and she wants us to call her and let her know how he is doing. Please keep him in your thoughts and hope he gets better soon. It is so hard to watch your child be sick, especially when they can't communicate with you to tell you they don't feel well.

Jumperoo

Colton really likes to jump when he is standing on our lap, so the other day I decided he might need the Rainforest Jumperoo. He has been using his exersaucer for several weeks now, but he was never too terribly interested in it. I think it is because he didn't have good hand control so he couldn't really play with the toys and he was just standing there. I convinced Cory that it would be a good thing and he reluctantly agreed. The first few days he would just jump here and there and he wasn't really sure about it. As the days have progressed though he absolutley loves it and will jump forever!! He stayed the weekend with Cory's parents and Mimi bought one to keep at her house because he likes it so much. Yesterday Cory told me that he thinks this was the BEST investment we have made. Mommy was right!! Here are a few videos of him jumping....

Sigma Phi Lambda

This weekend I traveled to Dallas to meet up with some girls that I have known since my Freshman year of college. We were all a part of Sigma Phi Lambda, a Christian sorority at Texas Tech. Some of the girls where in different pledge classes so there were a few that I didn't know, but it was great getting to know them. It was also great to see people I hadn't seen in a while and catch up!

I dropped Colton off in Huntsville with Cory's parents on Friday and headed to Grapevine to meet the girls at the hotel. We hung out at the hotel and chatted for a few hours before heading out to dinner at Napoli's. About 20 girls met for dinner on Friday night. It was great! There were 5 pregnant girls and 23 kiddos between all of us. WOW how the times have changed!

Then 11 of us spent the night in a hotel, our plan was to stay up into the night talking and laughing… it didn't happen though we were all sound asleep by 12:30, and up by 7:30. We then spent Saturday shopping at Grapevine Mills Mall. It was tax free weekend so we all got some really good deals.

That evening I headed back to Huntsville where Colton and Cory were staying with Cory's parents. Thanks Patty and Jody for keeping Colton so I could get away. Thanks to Cory too!!

Big Boy Carseat

Colton rode in his big boy carseat for the first time today. He really seemed to enjoy it (even though he doesn't look too happy in the pics). He doesn't get as hot in this seat as he did in his infant seat.

Diaper Rash and Cyst Removal

Today was a very eventful day in our house. Colton has had a little diaper rash for about a week (since his little tummy bug). I had her check it when we went in for his tummy bug and also at his 4month appt. Every time it just looked like a normal diaper rash so I just kept putting Boudreaux's Butt Paste on at every diaper change. All day Wednesday it just kept getting worse and every time I changed his diaper he would scream. Poor little guy it was really hurting. That night Cory and I noticed that there were little pimple looking things on his bottom so I emailed the doctor. She suggested that I go ahead and bring him in the next morning. So we went in and before she checked him I told her that I was perfectly prepared for her to tell me I was just a paranoid first time mom. When she opened his diaper he was covered in white butt paste but she could automatically tell that it was a bad one. She told me to put Maloxx (yes the stuff you drink) on first and then put on a prescription diaper cream and it should help clear it up. She said it wasn't anything we had done wrong and that this is VERY common during teething.

That afternoon Cory was supposed to have a cyst removed from his forearm. When we made the appt the doctor told us it would be about a 15 minute procedure and no big deal. I went with Cory but when we got there I decided I would wait in the waiting room because I wasn't sure I could handle it. It is a good thing I did because it turned out to be much more of a big deal. He was back there for about 1 hour and 15 min. It ended up being much bigger underneath than the Dr. expected---the size of a golf ball. He cut it all out and now he has a huge hole in his arm. It should fill out pretty soon. He was pretty sore today and can't do anything for 2 weeks--that includes picking up the baby. I'm going to post a picture of his incision so if you have a weak stomach scroll right on past it.

4 months Old

Today we went for Colton's four-month checkup. She said Colton is a very healthy little boy and to keep doing what we're doing. She also gave us the go-ahead to try the green veggies and then move to orange and green fruits. We have already been having rice cereal, squash, sweet potatos and carrotts. He really likes all of them once he takes a few bites---I'm not sure this boy will ever turn down any kind of food though.

(I can do it myself!!)

Poor little guy got more vaccinations today and was NOT happy about it. He was laughing and smiling at the nurse and then he cried immediatley after she stuck him the first time. He cried hard until I gave him a bottle. Then we got to the car and he fell asleep immediately. He then slept most of the day and was very grumpy when he was awake. :(

Anyway, here are his stats:
Weight: 17 lbs (82nd % ... she said he has really come a long way because he started out really low when he was born)
Height: 26 in. (83rd %)
Head: 16in (55th %)

She said he is very proportionate and is not worried about his weight at all. Check out the slide show below to watch as he has grown--he doesn't even look like the same baby anymore.
